Of late, every
new kit that interest me seems to be in the $80.00Cdn plus range before taxes,
being of Scottish heritage, I decided to the unthinkable and build some of the
Kits that I already have.
Venturing into
my basement loft (under the two stage stairway), I found a whole world of
forgotten goodies,( and some not so good)
Selecting the
Italari C-119, and the Monogram 1/48 Me 262, I cleared my work surface a bit and
decided to lead off with the C-119 build.
Study of the
Kit and the size of the parts suggested
that the model could be built in Stages or modules, since I am
notorious for my tendencies
to bang, drop, or otherwise screw things up, I decided to build the Kit in pre
finished modules to be assembled later.
It worked!
The model was
basically OOB wit the exception of Leading
Edge Decals and Resin Nose plug
for the Radar nose dome. This formed the basis for the nose and reduced
the amount of putty needed.

Having been cured of the dreaded
A.M.Syndrome, I no longer believe in the “I know its in there” school of
modeling and have signed on with the “ If I cant see it, forget it “ group.
The model was assembled ,
painted, and decaled in modules thus developing the “Modular Modeling”
System to a higher level than previously attained.
It was
originally planned to assemble the parts and fill / touch up all seams, imagine
my delight when the parts fit so well you have to get out your flashlight and
really get critical to see the joints, this hobby can be relaxing if you really
work at it!
The kit went
together really well and was a pleasure to build, (the antennas were purposely
left off to more easily handle the Model.
