Turkey Republic Day 2009

Hello All,

This is My Turkish Spitfire Mk.I  from Tamiya in 72nd scale.  Black 1  was one of 2 Mk.Is that Turkey received.  They have served in Corlu, near Istanbul.  Poland had ordered 15 MK.Is.  But after the Nazi invasion these planes could not be delivered to Poland and 2 of them were given to Turkey.

I have used Gunze's laquer RAF colors and Humbrol matt black for the undersurfaces.  As for aftermarket I used Turquise decals.  The black 1 was printed by my dear friend Cagri Acikgoz.  I tried to make Seatbelts from Tamiya tape.  Well, I admit  nothing is visible after closing the canopy! :(

There is no need to talk much about the kit; it is just a smaller version of well known Tamiya 1/48.  Engraved panel lines, good fit is enough to please a modeller.  But I don't know why Tamiya tries to proof how a decal can be  extremely thick in its kits?  I used some extra gloss coat to cover thick decals.  That  was the only difficulty that I faced.

At the end, I would like to thank Cagri Acikgoz for home made decals and pass my regards  to Thanos from Greece for sending great gifts for my wedding..
