   Turkey Republic Day 2009

Hello All,
This is my 1:72 Revell Me262B-1/U1.  As we all know, the Me262 was the first operational  jet fighter.  The Me262 B-1/U1 was the nightfighter  'Nachtjager' version of it which uses a Neptune radar.  Only a dozen of these planes served to chase RAF night bombers above Germany.

If we mention about the kit; it's almost perfect.  It didn't require putty as much as many  Revell kits do.  Kit comes with engraved panel lines, delicate details.  Well done Revell!

The only confusion was upper  wings color scheme.  On some articles Modelling gurus suggest it was a solid color and Trumpeter tells us to paint it  entirely RLM76 and apply mottles on it.  Well I Thought if Revell is a German company,  they should know the truth!  I did what they said on booklet: splinter camo with RLM 82-83.

I used Tamiya matt black for under surfaces.  Rest of the plane was painted with Model master enamels: RLM 74-76-81-82.For RADAR antennas I used Eduard PE set which actually supposed to be used on Revell's 1:72 FW190a-8/R11. I just shortened them a bit and glued them with CA.  Also,  I cut wheelbays and installed some wires to reach a more realistic  look.  Oh, I would almost forget; I used a pair of swastikas from Xtradecal sheet.  I finished the plane with Modelmaster's matt coat.

End of all, I can tell that it was a nice experience for me: trying to make some hand made details on 1:72nd scale and transferring PEs from another set with some changes.

I would like to thank my buddy Ayhan Toplu for taking pics and sending my regards to my dear Bro F.Emad Tabsh  from Lebanon!

Happy modelling to All!
