THE AIRCRAFT:
The Macchi C. 202 was the first true modern fighter to enter in service with the Italian Air Force (Regia Aeronautica) and the first to be built in relatively high numbers
(even by Italian standards). She married the sleek and modern Macchi 200 airframe with the powerful and sporting German Daimler-Benz D.B. 601 engine,
purposely licence-built by Alfa-Romeo firm. She was used almost in all fronts of the Italy's war and despite her light armament of just two BREDA machine guns she fought with distinction
from Sept. 1941 to the armistice in Sept. 1943; later she flew alongside the Allies with the loyal It. Royal AF until 1945.

THE MODEL:
This is an old Supermodel firm release, the "Aeronautica Macchi C. 202 Folgore". The kit is still today quite good with reasonable interiors and no big defaults. I built it straight OB but the cockpit includes
an instrument panel, cloche, gunsight, etc however. Filling is in the standard side, the colours used were all in the Humbrol range, being Marrone Mimetico (camouflage Brown) H.118, Verde Mimetico (camoufl. Green) H.30 and Grigio Mimetico (camoufl. Grey) h. 64. The model represents a 97^ Squadriglia, 9°
Gruppo, 4° Stormo C.T. (97th Sqn, 9° Group, 4° Wing land base-fighters) based in Sicily, late 1941 shortly before to being
sent to North Africa.
Hope
You can enjoy my little work. Many greetings from Italy!
