Duluth Air and Aviation Expo 2010 Part 1 of 4

Gallery Article by Mark L. Rossmann on Oct 19 2010

The Duluth Air and Aviation Expo was held in Duluth Minnesota in July 2010. Duluth is the largest inland port in the United States and is a receiving/ shipping point for many commodities. It is also known for the largest aerial lift bridge in the world which spans the canal to connect the mainland and Minnesota Point. Across the border and just a few miles is the Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center, a very nice tribute to America’s highest scoring ace and to the veterans who fought in WW2.

This picture gallery will be in several parts as I have many pictures to provide for your enjoyment. We will cover the following:

  • 1. Canadian Forces Skyhawks jump team
  • 2. F16’s of the 148th TFW
  • 3. P-38
  • 4. B-25
  • 5. Tora! Tora! Tora!
  • 6. USMC AV-8B Harrier
  • 7. USAF F-15 Strike Eagle
  • 8. Heritage Flight (P-38, F-15 and F-4 Phantom)
  • 9. F/A – 18 Hornet
  • 10. USAF Thunderbirds
  • 11. Static displays and Commemorative Air Force

The show is hosted at the Duluth International Airport, home of the 148th TFW “Bulldogs”. The site also has the Duluth chapter of the Commemorative Air Force.

As we get started the only negative comment I have was the presentation of the U.S. colors, the Canadian Skyhawk team jumped with the U.S. flag, it would have been nice to have had a U.S. organization present the colors. I thank our Canadian friends for their participation.

This first part will cover the F-16’s of the 148th TFW, Canadian Forces Jump Team, P-38 and B-25 and Tora! Tora! Tora!.
