Twin tailed PB4Y-1’s inflicted the most damage to Germany’s U-Boat fleet during WWII as different airframes were used to build the 977 aircraft (mostly B-24 J, L, or M versions). This navalized B-24’s were the replacement to the Catalina and Coronado aircraft which could only carry a limited amount of bombs and depth charges in the fight against the German U-boat Wolf Packs. This was an OOB build, and the only improvement was adding wires to the engines. Model Master paint was used for the color scheme, and everything was painted freehand with an airbrush. The model was weathered with Pro Modeler black wash, and the decals and weathering was sealed with a semi-gloss clear lacquer.

The only problematic area with this kit was attaching the fuselage with the frontal cockpit assembly. Much patience, sanding and putty was required to make it fit right. All in all, it became a respectable looking model that it is proudly displayed in my collection.

Enjoy the photos.
