  Indian Republic day

MiG-25 RB Indian Air Force

This is one of the legendary aircraft's to be possessed by Soviets and India Air Force. Another legend for me would be MiG-21.

Though this my second MiG-25 build, first one was 1:144 scale. And one cannot be satisfied with 1:144 scale kit and one can only dream about 1:48 MiG-25 unless you want to get thrown out of your house.

Kit I have used is an really old Hasegawa kit with raised panel lines. Fit was okay but one couldn't fill and sand too much to lose out on the details. Main modification that was needed to make it RB version of the Indian Air Force was the nose cone that comes with reconnaissance cameras.

For that, I had picked up after market resin nose cone from eBay. Nose wasn't the perfect fit for the kit but I tried my best to integrate and make it look natural. Decals used are after market decals from Begemot which came with roundels, squadron logos and serial numbers.

One finishing the kit, I realized how huge the aircraft is. I have added reference picture of MiG-23 in 1:72 scale for comparison.

MiG-21 looks tiny in similar scale and can compete only in 1:48 scale. It was pretty quick build except for the nose cone surgery. But I have heard ICM has released RBT version in 1:72 scale. Yes, they released right after I built this kit.

So hopefully, I will build another.

Happy Indian Republic Day. Jai Hind.
