History:
The
Heinkel He 118 had been designed as a competitor of the "Sturzkampfbomber"
program for a definitive divebomber. This machine was certainly the most
advanced contender. However the RLM decided to produce the Junkers Ju 87 at the
end.
The V-1 flew in late 1935 with a British engine (Rolls Royce Buzzard), which
gave her a max speed of about 395 km/h. The V-4 and V-5 had been given to
Japanese Navy and Army. Ten A-0 pre-production machines had been built.
The
Kit:
Just
to build an easy kit between all those, who need more time, I decided to build
the new Airmodel 1/72 scale resin kit of the He 118. The new molding technique
allows assembling without much work, which is normally needed for cleaning all the
kit parts. I painted most of the small parts on their sprues,

As
I mentioned, assembly had been very simple. No different from other resin kits.
Fit itself was good. I painted the model in RLM 63 overall with colours
from Testors. The bigger tactical codes had been applied using masks. For the
smaller ones I used letters from TL-Decal Germany who are offering very nice
decals.
Well.... a lot of fun at the end and beside an early Junkers Ju 87 A and
Arado Ar 80 an interesting part of aircraft history.... an
idea maybe for the future :-)
Best
regards
Matthias
