Tony the Tigers' Tank

Silly Week 2006

During the dark days of the Cereal Killer uprisings, one force that was feared more than any other was the dreaded Tony the Tiger tank regiment. Sporting a distinctive orange and black tiger stripe "camouflage", Tony's Tigers were a serious threat to peace and stability in the Breakfastland States. Snap, Crackle and Pop were quickly routed, Toucan Sam's Air Brigade took flight, and even the vaunted Captain Crunch was forced to flee by sea...were it not for a valiant rearguard action by the Count Chocola Corps, Tony's Tigers would have completely destroyed all opposition.
This model depicts the lead tank of Tony's Tigers, Number 5. Seen surveying all he commands from the commander's hatch is Tony the Tiger himself, most likely thinking that he's Grrreat!

The kit
I used the Tamiya 1/24 (or is it 1/25?) scale Tiger Tank and a keychain PVC Tony who scaled out to the right size. The tank was painted a nice shade of Canadian Tire Orange and black stripes were free handed using Tamiya Black. Tony was unmodified. The decals came from an aftermarket set designed for the Number 5 Kellogs NASCAR, which happened to have Tony as the mascot marking. I also made some using a laser printer for the mock German markings, and the Frosted Flakes box markings were scanned and printed on a ink jet copier.
This kit won a local trophy for best 1/24-1/25 scale Tank, but considering that I think it was the ONLY one in the category, you can understand why...  :)
