1/32 Revell ASK-21 Glider

Here is my latest submission, this time something without props!  As I don’t have many gliders in my collection, when I saw the ASK-21 at my local, I didn’t need to think twice about buying it.  Assembly is very straight forward and Revell have included a very nice decal sheet.  You can make almost any country’s version, except for Australia/New Zealand!

Most of the work involved in this kit is in the interior.  You could spend more time super detailing, but I actually wanted to finish something for a change.  The seatbelt detail is moulded in, but you could grind them off and put in “real” seatbelts.  Revell also include decals for the seatbelts if you prefer that.

The canopies open but they are probably the trickiest part of the assembly.  They have to have the hinge piece glued in place and set for 24 hours before assembling the fuselage.  This is tricky as if you don’t have the angle right, the canopies will not close and stay closed.  There must be a better way.  As the interior is so detailed, I didn’t want to glue the canopies shut, so I put up with this problem.  I chose markings for the U.S. Air Force Academy only because there were no Aussie markings.  Be warned, these decals are ready to go almost as soon as they hit the water!  Good quality, fun kit, happy modelling!
