This aircraft with code F1+XM, had an unusual point of interest in paint scheme. The nose. As it is known the model C6 had metal nose cap and it was heavily armed with MG17 and 151\20 guns.  What they did  was to paint the nose to look like a glass bomber’s nose.  The goal was to trick the Russian fighter pilots and make them perform head to head attacks to the defenceless “glass” nose of the bomber!  The hole image is more interest also because of the temporary white paint covering the original camo pattern.

This kit was first released more than a decay ago by Italeri and now is up the market again by Tamiya. The level of detail for the scale is great and it gives a really good looking model of the Ju-88C6. This model was constructed years ago and is out of the box.  Only some small details were made from scratch like: seat belts, cockpit wiring, rear gun sights ,antenna and brake wires.  The model was given the classic factory pattern consisted of RLM 70/71/65 using enamels and let dry for 24 hours.  Also the cockpit and landing gears and bays were painted in RLM 02.

In the next step the whole plane was sprayed with acrylic gloss varnish and let dry over night.  The next day the decals were put in place and the “glass nose” was painted (decal is also given).  Finally after careful masking they were sprayed all the upper surfaces with enamel flat white.  After half an hour with the help of a small sponge wet with enamel thinner it was made the weathering on the temporary white covering coat.  48 hours later a coat of matt varnish was applied and additional weathering was made using pigments and artists oil colours.....antennas and gun sights were put in place and the construction came to an end.  A really nice model with an unusual ..nose!!
