This is a new decal sheet from Cutting Edge Modelworks.  The sheet includes markings for 3 different P-51D's in 1/48 scale all of which have some sort of nose art.
The first plane is a P-51D-20 #44-72067 flown by Major George A. Doersch of the 368th FS, 359th FG out of East Wretham in April 1945.  This plane was called "Ole' Goat" and is Olive Drab on the anti-glare panel....custom mixed Medium Green on the engine cowl and and bare metal everywhere else.  Topside and bare metal on the underside.  This Mustang has an Olive Drab spinner and a yellow rudder.
The second plane is a P-51D #44-13549 of the 38th FS of the 55th FG.  This plane sports nose art of the 2 blonde  girls in 1940's style one piece bathing suits and possibly a nurses uniform.  This plane has some Olive Drab on the upper parts of it's fuselage and the underside and tops of the wings and lower part of the fuselage sides is all baremetal.  This Mustang has a green and yellow checkered prop spinner and a green and yellow checkered band on the front part of the engine cowling.  The rudder and canopy base is red.  This plane also features full D-Day stripes
The third plane is a P-51D-20 # 44-72366 flown by Lt. Rene L. Burtner  of the 369th FS, 359th FG out of East Wretham in May 1945.  This plane  sports a cartoon character of Hubert with the text "Hubert" next to the artwork.  The paint scheme is over all bare metal with Olive Drab on the anti-glare panel....custom mixed Medium Green on the engine cowl.  The rudder and canopy base are in red.
The fourth plane is a P-51D # 44-14223 of the 338th FS, 55th FG.   This plane is bare metal all over with an Olive drag glare panel on top of the engine cowling.  This Mustang has a green and yellow checkered prop spinner and a green and yellow checkered band on the front part of the engine cowling.  The rudder is green.  The nose art is a green grasshopper with green breasts in an alluring pose with the text "KATYDID".

The decals were flawlessly printed and the clear carrier film is trimmed very close to the crisply printed colored areas, which is always good to see.  Because the paint schemes are partly baremetal on these 3 aircraft, you may want to consider carefully trimming off all clear carrier film on these decals to give your Bare metal Mustang the best look.  Colours are solid and will cover very well.  This decal sheet has a good variety of noseart and colour schemes.  Checkered stripes are included as decals and national insignia comes in white of gray to cover all options.  Because these aircraft are WW2, some questions about markings remain unanswered so you must use a bit of "Best Guess" to decide on certain markings for some of the planes featured on this decal sheet.

Having said that, I think these decals are well researched, especially considering the lack of full walkaround photos of every aircraft that fought in WW2.

The instructions are clear and an extra page of text instruction is included with a small bit of info about 1 of these planes.

A very nice product and highly recommended.

I would like to thank Cutting Edge Modelworks for providing me with this review sample.
