This new decal sheet from Leading Edge Models includes markings for 1 very special CF-188 in Anniversary markings for the 100th Anniversary of Flight in Canada.  This was the 2009 Demo bird that appeared at airshows during the 2009 airshow season.

Canada’s First Manned Powered Flight was in a machine called the Silver Dart on 23 February 1909.  The famed flight, piloted by Mr. McCurdy from the ice-covered Bras D'Or Lake in Baddeck, Nova Scotia, Canada on February 23, 1909 brought the nation into the Age of Flight.

What might be of interest to all subjects of the Commonwealth is that the first powered flight in Canada was also the first powered flight in the British Empire.

Eighteen weeks earlier, on 16 October 1908, Samuel Franklin Cody made a flight of 1390 feet 424 metres over Laffin's Plain, Farnborough, England, which is recognized by the Royal Aero Club as the first powered flight in England — but not in the British Empire, because the British Empire consisted of territories other than the United Kingdom.

This decal sheet set includes 3 sheets of decals & 2 sheets of precut vinyl paint masks.  The masks are for painting the tails and wings.

The instructions are clear and extensive and include one page that is full of colour photos of this jet showing the paint scheme.  The decals are beautifully printed on 3 decal sheets with a third tiny insert decal sheet.  One complete set of stencils is included on this decal sheet.

Canada is famous for it's colourful Airshow Demo birds and this jet for the 2009 season was quite attractive with it's blue and gold paint scheme.  It is fantastic to see that Leading Edge Models has chosen to produce this special jet.

This decal sheet is also available in 1/72 scale.
