Lunar New Year - Spring Festival

Rafi Ben Shahar is here with a double header today.  Rafi joins us with the 1/48 AMK & Kinetics Kfir C2/C7 and interestingly enough he compares the good and bad points of both of these kits.  Rafi chose 2 very different Israeli camo and I'm torn on which one I love the most....they both look amazing in their full weathering and weapons loads.

Carmel J. Attard has done quite the exceptional job on his 1/72 Project-X.Mantrack Hangar Productions De Havilland DH-110.  This is the early prototype for the Sea Vixen and Carmel tells the fascinating history of the two prototypes as well as the 1952 Farnborough Airshow crash that killed 2 crew members and 29 spectators.  This is a vac-formed kit and Carmel gives you the full build process.....he has quite the talent for these difficult kits.

Andre Dionne joins us from Canada with his very colourful 1/72 Hasegawa CF-18 Demo 2011.  Andre custom designed and made the decals for his Demo bird and I have to say this looks like quite the complicated piece of artwork.  But he pulled it all together in true Canuck style to produce a first class colour bird.

Indian Scale Modelers Facebook group has put together a huge display for the The Vampire T.55 in Indian Air Force Service.  Excellent work guys.

Scotty Battistoni has been very busy on his 1/72 Heller Toofani.  Scotty rescribed the panel lines, added scratchbuilt details and finished it off with a flawlessly done multi-shaded bare metal finish and aftermarket decals.  I love the in-flight photos.

Vinayak Dutt Shukla has done a first class job building the 1/48 Revell MIG-21 FL (Kukke's MIG) as part of a group build for the Indian Scale Modelers.  His MiG-21 is in a very realistic diorama.

Aditya Singh Chauhan has done a wonderful weathering job on his 1/72 Modelsvit Sukhoi 7.  Aditya  faded the paint and then added paint chipping to complete the look of this tired aerial warrior.

Ratish Nair has been brave and built the old 1/72 AMT/Matchbox MiG-21FL to a very high standard.  This was a build that required much effort but as you can see by the photos of the finished MiG-21....the effort did give excellent results.  Ratish explains the build process in his article.

Ulysses Almeida has done a spectacular job on his 1/48 Italeri Mirage 2000B.  This is a Brazilian Mirage in the very attractive blue/grey camo that is expertly done.  The darkened panel lines and all the stencils bring this model to life and the choice of camo colours makes this a Mirage that looks good from any angle.

Kit added photo etch and scratchbuilt details to the cockpit of this 1/48 Tamiya A6M3 Nishizawa's Zero.  Kit then went on to give this Zero a weather look to complete the look.  This is a very well done Zero and I know you'll enjoy seeing the 12 photos of it.

George Oh has been creative on his Hasegawa P-40 Egg-plane.  George chose am Australian Desert camo complete with sharks mouth and added a weapons load of Egg Bombs.  I quite enjoyed seeing Aussie markings on an Egg Plane.

Dave Bailey, aka "The Rat" is here with a very amusing story of the time the RAF broke the sound barrier using the The GASSP-1 Meteor.  Dave modified the Meteor and painted it red to bet the correct look for this historic aircraft.  An amusing read to be sure.

Hal Elsberry "Els" is here with a very comical model of an equally comical Halloween costume.  Hal built his Dog in Star Trek Costume model exact to the original full sized costume including beer can Warp Drive Engines.  I have never seen anything this creative....definitely a 10 out of 10 on the amusement meter.

Ole A. Hoel is here with a very respectable model built from the 1/72 Airfix Defiant.  Ole has little love for this old Airfix kit, but he conquered this beast with a passionate resolve.

Welcome to Silly Week 2014.  Currently I don't have any other silly Week gallery articles which might be because my inbox was full and bouncing e-mails for the past 5 days.  I have cleaned out my inbox, so if you were trying to send in an article and it would not go....then please resend your Silly Week articles.

Konley Kelley joins us with his 3D model of Snoopy and the Red Baron.  Konley combined real scale models with his 3D computer art program to bring his models to life.  I always get a kick out of seeing Snoopy and the Red Baron and the Christmas song is a hoot to listen to.

MS#14 has done an exceptional fine job detailing and weathering the 1/48 (I guess) Revell Cylon Raider - illuminated.  MS#14 then went the extra step and  illuminated this model to give it maximum realism.  This one is truly a beauty to see.

Cuba  -  Anniversary of the Revolution

Haiti Independence Day

Sudan  Independence Day

Hal "Els" Elsberry is here to ring in the New Year and Silly Week in style with an Egg Plane...but not just any ol' Egg plane.  This is his resin JPG Castings Colonial Viper Egg which turns into an egg plane of very high standards.  Hal was very creative in the way he built the base and you can read about that in his article. This is a model that would be the focal point in any Egg Plane display case.  Beautifully done Hal......I'm a big BSG fan and seeing this model made my day.

Ole A. Hoel....which is a curious name ;-) ..... has been very creative in building his 1/72 Airfix Spitfire Turret fighter.  Ole made a vac-u-formed canopy for his unique little Spitfire and I must admit I had a big smile on my face when I saw it.  It almost looks possible....
