This weeks Twobobs Newsletter is up.  Big news this week.  Due to the excessive demand, Bob will be permitting pre-orders on the soon to be released three USN Centennial sheets.  The newsletter has piles of images of these new sheets.  Diana and Egg Plane Decals are selling briskly...get them while you can.  Sale on Daco decals and Xtracrylics paints continues.

David Rapasi is here with one of my favorite late war aircraft.  This is his 1/48 Hasegawa Typhoon Mk.1B. in China British markings.  David has captured the look of the real Typhoon perfect with exhaust and gun powder stains and given it a full load of rockets for a ground attack mission.

Moises Ballester has been very busy creating this awesome Tiger striped 1/32 Academy F-18D.  This is an F-18D belonging to VFMA (AW) -224 Bengals.  Moises dressed up the cockpit with Quickboost resin seats and goodies from Eduard plus exhaust nozzles from Aires.  I love the look of this Tiger scheme.

Derek Derks has done an exceptionally fine job on his 1/72 Hasegawa Lockheed Neptune SP-2H.  Derek has included the history of this aircraft as well as the tricks to building this beauty.  He finished his excellent looking Neptune in markings for the Royal Netherlands Navy.

Danny Dinh is here with a excellent looking 1/96 Aurora Boeing 727-121.  Danny chose the colors for an Air Vietnam airliner just before the fall of Saigon.  It's a pleasure to see this airliner in it's colorful paint scheme....beautifully done Danny.

Paolo Yuen has done an exceptionally nice job on his 1/72 Hasegawa F-4EJ Kai Phantom II.  Paolo dressed it up with some pre-painted photo etch from Eduard and found the markings in a  Fujimi kit.  This Japanese F-4 looks excellent. 

Kees Kuyper joins us with another of his What-if wonders.  This is his 1/48 Lockheed Conversion and if you look carefully you'll see the twin tail from a  Connie.

  Estonia National Day 

Carmel J.Attard starts today's update with his very attractive 1/144 CMR Avro Shackleton MR.2/AEW.2.  This is a resin kit and Carmel was able to combine the markings that were provided to finish his Shackleton  as a plane that flew out of his home country of Malta.  This model is a beauty. 

Fabien Antonietti has done a wonderful job on his 1/72 Italeri IAI F-21A "Lion".  Fabien added a resin exhaust from Aires and decals from IsraDecal and a flawless weathering job to complete this great looking USMC F-21.

Sertac Bayar has done an impressive job detailing and finishing his 1/48 Revell Chinook HC. MKI.  Sertac added some scratchbuilt details and then chose a very attractive anniversary scheme in RAF camo. 

I have a product article for the 1/48 F-16C/D Peace Puma Viperss decal sheet from Twobobs Aviation Graphics. Twobobs Aviation Graphics.  This sheet features F-16C Block 52 jets from the Chilean Air Force.  There are enough markings on this sheet to build two complete jets.  One C and one D model.  Every Chilean Viper is represented on this sheet. 

Jeff Herne is here with a  product article for the new 1/32 Albatross D.Va 'The Bavarians' decal sheet from Wingnut Wings. Wingnut Wings.  Wingnuts’ release of “The Bavarians” set provides markings for five different Albatross D.Va aircraft, including three spectacularly striped aircraft from Jasta 76b.

Fabio Carabelli gets things off to an enjoyable start today with his Airfix Wallace & Gromit Anti-Pesto Van.  I'm a  big Wallace & Gromit fan and seeing this van brought a big smile to my face.  Fabio did a fantastic job on it.

Aaron D. Bennett has done an amazing job on his 1/48 Tamiya Messerschmit Me 262 A-1a.  Aaron used resin slats and flaps to move these into the dropped position and then added photo etch seatbelts to dress up the cockpit before finishing off his 262 with a dynamite camo scheme.

Igor Svetlov has done extensive kit bashing to create his 1/72 Hasegawa/Dragon Lockheed P-38J-5 Lightning.  Igor used an Aires cockpit set as well as an Eduard photo etch set to add plenty of extra detail to his P-38 before giving it  a fabulous paint job complete with colourful artwork for a USAAF fighter in India during WW2.

I have a product article for the 1/48 F-16C/D Blue Fox Bandits decal sheet from Twobobs Aviation Graphics. Twobobs Aviation Graphics.  This sheet features markings for four Lizard, Flanker and Arctic scheme jets from the 18th AGRS at Eielson AFB.  These markings represent the final configuration schemes of these jets. 

I have a product article for the new 1/32 APU-60-1 Launch Rails from Zactomodels. Zactomodels.  These launch rails were used on the MiG-21, MiG-23 and the Su-25 in combination with various pylons.

I have a product article for the new AH-64A/D Peten and Saraf in IAF Service book from IsraDecal.  This book is geared towards the scale modeler, so it is loaded with 494 color photos and 24 black and white photos showing all the areas of detail modeler crave.

Pete Malaguti is here with his most intricate 1/72 Monogram Space Shuttle Cutaway.  Pete worked on this for quite a while and had an ongoing in-progress thread on the ARC forums.  The finished model really is a masterpiece and because this is a 1/72 Shuttle......it is HUGE!!!  I tip my hat to Pete for pulling off this massive scratchbuilding project.

Gabriel Stern joins us today with his very attractive 1/72 LF Models Lockheed Altair.  This is a multi-media resin kit that Gabriel built for a friend and I must say I absolutely love the choice of color scheme and markings on this Lockheed Altair.   This is one very cool looking aircraft.

Douglas Fede has done a fabulous job building and finishing  his 1/48 Revell Mil-24D Hind.  Douglas had a few problems during the build process that he talks about in his article, but the finished model is stunning.

This weeks Twobobs Newsletter is up.  Bob has images of the 2 new  Centennial of USN Aviation sheets featuring colorful USN jets in retro paint schemes that remember the earlier days of USN aviation.  Plus Bob has images of the new F-16 Egg Plane sheet and the new Diana sheet.....both of which are selling VERY fast.

David Rapasi has done a stellar job on his 1/48 Eduard P 39 Q-1 Airacobra.   This particular P-39 wears a very rare camo color and David tells more about it in his article.  This P-39 has full weathering and noseart.  Lovely as always David.

Sal has done an exceptionally nice job on his 1/48 Revell EA-6A Wild Weasel.  Sal used some pre-shading for weathering and went with some good looking markings to turn out hi USMC Wild Weasel.  This is one cool looking model. 

Shawn "phantom" Weiler has been busy building his 1/48 Hobbycraft CF-100 Mk4a and MkV.  Shawn built these bare metal beauties for a Group Build here on ARC and I am glad to be able to see them.  Shawn tells the history of this aircraft and also the history of theese particular CF-100s.  Looking excellent Shawn.

  Gambia Independence Day 

Gary Storck starts today's update with his first model in 15 years.  Gary chose to built the venerable 1/72 Airfix Hawker Typhoon 1b using the kit markings for a Tiffie with 247 Sqdn, RAF Merston, UK, 1944.  Great looking job on the Typhoon Gary.....good to see you building models again.

Burt Gustafson has done a fabulous job on his 1/48 Kinetic F-16D2+ Advanced Viper.  Burt went with Polish markings and a complete weapons load to give his F-16 added realism.  Burt was impressed with this kit and he did do a lovely job on it.  I always enjoy seeing Burt's latest model.

Douglas Fede is here with something you don't see very often.  This is his 1/48 Eduard Polikarpov I-16 Type 10 wearing markings from the Spanish Civil war.  Douglas added some extra detail to the landing gear and gave his little fighter weathering and paint chipping to complete the look.  Pretty cool model Gary.

Frederic COTTIN has done an impressive job on his 1/48 Sword T-38 Talon.  This is one of the Aggressor aircraft out of Nellis AFB and was built using Twobobs decals.  She's a beauty Frederic.

Jens Gerber joins us today with his excellent looking 1/48 Tamiya Fw-190D.  Jens added a resin seat and scratchbuilt further details before finishing his Dora in a great looking camo scheme.  Nicely done Jens. 

David Rapasi is here with his insight on Model Paint Colors.  David discusses the effect different color backgrounds can have on the relative appearance of the paint colors on the model.  I found this article quite interesting and informative.

  Lithuania National Day 

Floyd S. Werner, Jr. has just completed his stunning 1/48 Zvezda Bf-109F-2.  Floyd used a variety of aftermarket goodies to get everything just right and then he finished it off with aftermarket decals.  Floyd also has some news about some upcoming products from Werner's Wings.

Kris Pete is here for the first time with a excellent looking 1/48 Tamiya A10-A Thunderbolt II.  Kris dressed up the cockpit with a resin cockpit set and then went with an in-flight display to finish up this Warthog for the ARC Desert Storm GB. Beautifully done Kris, I look forward to seeing more of your models on ARC in the future.

Carmel J Attard joins us today with a very rare aircraft.  This is his 1/48 Planet model Koolhoven FK.58C.1 which is a resin kit and Carmel explains the history and build process very well.  I love how it turned out and it's always a treat to see Carmel's latest model.  This is a cool looking fighter.

Two Bobs Aviation Graphics.  This sheet features three complete QF-4E's with options for a fourth from the 82nd Aerial Targets Squadron at Holloman AFB.  These jets were painted in commemorative schemes that had been previously worn by the F-4 during it's USAF service.

Victor De Jesus has done a spectacular job on his 1/32 Revell F-15C.  Victor started with the 1/32 Revell F-15D/E twin seater and converted to an F-15C single seater.  There was a huge amount of work put into this F-15 and the finished models shows perfect in any way.  Sit back and enjoy the photos and article.

Manuel Soriano has done a beautiful job on his 1/48 Classic Airframes Arado Ar 68E.  This kit does require a bit of effort to build, but it does turn into a great looking model.  Manuel chose the markings for the Condor Legion during the Spanish Civil war.  Nicely done Manuel.

Kees Kuyper is being creative again today.  This is his swept wing jet powered 1/144 Lockheed Consternation.  I do like the look of this design.  Good one Kees.....I love it.

  Happy Valentines Day 


Ed Kinney is here with a very special and rare model.  This is his 1/32 RB-51 'Red Baron' Reno Racer made from a very rare resin kit.  Ed did a flawless job on his Red Baron Reno Racer and you can see his care and attention in the high gloss finish.  Take a bow Ed.....your work is flawless.

Dragan Cvetic is here with a classic kit of an early Harrier.  This is his flawless looking 1/72 Esci AV-8A Harrier.  Dragan added a resin seat to dress up the cockpit and finished his Harrier in a 3 tone USMC camo.  I love the look of these early Harriers.

David Rapasi is here to treat us to a selection of his 1/48 Tamiya Bf 109 E3s.  Each of these Emils served on different front and features amazingly well done paint and weathering jobs.  Great to see David.

 Iran - Anniversary Revolution 

Marcelo Campos gets things started today with his recently completed 1/72 Airfix Supermarine Spitfire PRXIX.  Marcelo has captured the look of this rare model of the Spitfire perfectly and it's great to see it. 

Burt Gustafson has done a sharp looking job on his 1/48 AFV F-5E Tiger II.  Burt chose the very attractive blue/Gray Aggressor camo scheme using decals from Twobobs. This is one very sharp looking Freedom Fighter. 

Tudor Gheorghiu is here with his stunning 1/35 Dragon Panzer IV Ausf. H.  This model contains over 800 parts and took a month to build and is Tudor's first armor model.......I am VERY impressed how good it looks.

Paolo De Sanctis has done a lovely job building and finishing his 1/72 Airfix Fairey Firefly Mk.V.  Paolo has captured the looks of the Fairey Firefly Mk.V perfectly and this would make a fine addition to any display case.

Chuck Sawyer spent 9 months and countless hours building and detailing his 1/32 Academy CF-18B.  Chuck used a crate full of aftermarket goodies and finished off this tired trainer with a stunning paint and weathering job.

Gabriel Stern has been very busy rebuilding and restoring his Modified ICM 1/72 Tupolev TB-3 / G-2 -Reloaded-.  Gabriel tackled many areas on his Tupolev and thanks to his expert modeling skills......the finished model is quite the gem.

Two Bobs Aviation Graphics.  This sheet features markings for 2 different QF-4E Phantoms from the 53rd WEG at Tyndall AFB down in Florida.  These two jets were painted in commemorative schemes that had been previously worn by the F-4 during it's USAF service.

Tomas Perez Luis is here with an older 1/48 ARII Nakajima Ki-48.H-36 he built years ago and recently restored.  Tomas stripped it down and added further detailing before giving it a fully weathered camo scheme with masked and painted markings.  It is fantastic what can be done to an older model.

Kevin Payne re-entered the hobby after a 20 year break and his first model was this multi-media 1/72 Welshmodel Boeing 737 T-43A.  Kevin finished his in USAF and I must say I'm quite impressed with the look of the finished model.

Tony Harwood (Dampfpanzerwagon) is here with his first article on ARC.  This is Tony's Lockhead F-104 Starfighter artwork that he did a number of years ago.  It's an eye pleasing piece of art and I'm appreciative to Tony for sharing it with us.

Jerry Reyes did quite a bit of added detailing to his 1/32 Trumpeter F4U-1 to turn it into the fighter flown by the famous Ace Greg "Papy" Boyington F4U-1A Corsair.  Jerry exposed the engine and added detailing everywhere on his big beautiful Corsair. 


Gil Gregg built this attractive 1/72 Hasegawa S-3A Viking for a squadron buddy in the paint scheme from the '80's when they were in the service.  Gill knows the Viking well and he did correct some issues on his model to improve the accuracy and he talks about this in his article.  This is a sharp looking Viking and the squadron display base completes the scene. 

Carmel J Attard is here with a rare air racer.  This is his 1/48 LDM Lawrence Designs & Models Comper Swift in the markings for a racer that competed in the 1949 Kings Cup and attained a third place finish.  Carmel tells the full history and gives excellent insight into building this model.  It's a great looking model of this cool looking aircraft.

  Grenada Independence Day 

Rod Bettencourt used Lonestar Models resin intakes and exhaust, Fisher Models elevons and Mike Grants decals to turn out his stunning 1/48 Monogram B-58 Hustler.  This truly is an exception model and I thought the pictures were of the real aircraft. 

Lyle Brown starts today with his latest artwork.  This is his Mirage 2000N Artwork.  I really do admire Lyle's artwork

David Rapasi has done his usual masterful weathering job on his 1/48 Accurate Miniatures A-24 Banshee.  David tells the fateful mission that this plane flew on before the A-24 was withdrawn from active combat service.  David has captured the look of a battle weary Banshee with his weathering job.

Shawn "phantom" Weiler is here with his 135 Phantom on display here on ARC.  This is Shawn's 1/48 Hasegawa RF-4C Phantom in Spanish markings.  Read his article to find out what he used to make the refueling probe.  Very nicely done Shawn, it's always a  treat seeing your latest model on the ARC homepage..

Orlando Sucre Rosales is here to mark a very special occasion with his 1/72 Hasegawa Focke-Wulf FW-190A.  Orlando had quite the tricky time masking and painting the prop hub spiral on his FW-190, but he got it and the model looking perfect in the end.  And what is the special occasion?....you'll have to read his article.  :-)

Lunar New Year - Spring Festival

Fernando I. Moreno Villa joins us from Monterrey, México with his 1/72 AZ Model Zlin 242L.  This is a resin kit and Fernando finsihed it in the bright colors of the Armada de México.  Fernando tells about the trick to adding nose weight to avoid having a tailsitter.  This is a great looking model and it is a treat to see it in Mexican markings.

Burt Gustafson has done a stellar job on his 1/48 Revell Eurofighter Typhoon.  Burt chose to go with the markings for a Luftwaffe Typhoon complete with drop tanks a beautifully done paint job.  This Typhoon really does look sharp.

Josh Albright is here with something that brings back fond memories of the movie Short Circuit.  This is his S.A.I.N.T. Prototype #5 from Short Circuit.  Josh repainted his model and added extra scratchbuilt detailing to further enhance this well detailed robot model.  Thanks for sending it in Josh...I love it.

Jens Gerber joins us from Germany with his 1/48 Trumpeter MiG 3 finished in the heavily weathered winter camo worn by these aircraft during WW2.  Jens used a very interesting and easy to follow weathering process which he talks about in his article.  I love the look of this winter fighter.  Nicely done Jens. 

Max Bianchi has done an excellent job on his Polish 1/32 Revell MiG-29.  Max opened up an engine panel to show off his scratchbuilt engine detailing and then gave his MiG-29 some subtle weathering and custom Mermaid artwork and Polish markings.  This one is a beauty. 

Danny Dinh is here with a very unique 1/48 Monogram A-1H Skyraider.  This particular Skyraider was flown by a  special group of South Vietnamese pilots in support of their own special forces, but it is the unusual markings that make this model so interesting.  Danny tells the whole story in his article.  Well done Danny!!!

  Space Shuttle Columbia Accident 2003  

Hot Babe of the Week!  this week  from Twobobs  is courtesy of the fine folks at VAQ-129. As part of the US Navy's assistance to Twobobs to commemorate the Naval Aviation Centennial, they have provided some pics to us of their EA-18G and EA-6B from NAS Whidbey.


David Porter has gone to town  and then some on his 1/32 Academy F/A-18B Hornet.  David used a combination of after market items and some very exacting modelling skill to create this impressive Aussie Hornet.  Grab a tea of coffee and enjoy this one during your break....the paint and weathering will leave you in awe.

Gabriel Stern is here with a ski equipped bush plane that has left a big grin on my face.  This is his Modified Execuform 1/72 Fairchild Canada Super 71 done up to his high level of wonderful detail, and the fact it is on skis just makes it look all that more appealing.  This is one cool looking aircraft. 

Lou Anatrella is here with a very helpful Tools and Tips article regarding Helicopter Rotor Rotation.  I've never pondered the issue about which way rotor blades should spin and I'm impressed Lou has taken the time to shed light on this critical area of helicopter modeling.
